Step 1: Initial Assessment

Your journey starts with a simple conversation. We’ll ask a few questions about your property to check if you qualify for government-funded schemes like ECO4 or GBIS.

  • The type and age of your property.
  • How your home is currently heated.
  • What insulation or energy-saving measures you already have.
  • Basic information about your household (e.g. income or benefits).

If you’re eligible, we’ll book your Retrofit Assessment — the next step in improving your home’s energy efficiency.

Step 2: Your Retrofit Assessment (RA)

Step 2: Your Retrofit Assessment (RA)

This is a detailed home survey carried out by a qualified Retrofit Assessor. It usually takes up to 3 hours, and it helps us understand your home’s current condition and what upgrades are most suitable.

  • Loft, walls, floors and any existing insulation.
  • Heating and hot water systems.
  • Windows and doors.
  • Signs of damp or mould.
  • Current ventilation systems.
  • How you and your family use the home (occupancy patterns, energy use).
  • A borescope inspection may be carried out, where we drill a small hole in an external wall to insert a camera and check for existing cavity wall insulation. This is a quick and minimally invasive procedure that helps us plan the right measures for your property.

Ventilation Strategy – Keeping Your Home Healthy

As part of government-funded energy upgrades, it’s essential to make sure your home stays well-ventilated — especially when insulation is added.

When we make homes more airtight (e.g. by adding insulation), it’s important to allow fresh air to flow and prevent problems like damp, condensation, or poor air quality.

  • Extractor fans in kitchens and bathrooms.
  • Trickle vents on windows.
  • Undercuts beneath internal doors to improve air flow.

These ventilation measures are required under schemes like ECO4 to meet safety and health standards (known as PAS 2035). We’ll take care of the installation to make sure your upgraded home remains comfortable and breathable.
